EOSYS Receives Department of Defense Patriot Award

ESGR has served our country for more than 45 years, fostering a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. These citizen warriors could not defend and protect us at home and abroad without the continued promise of meaningful civilian employment for themselves and their families.
USERRA is a Federal law intended to ensure that persons who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, Reserve, National Guard, or other uniformed Services: (1) are not disadvantaged in their civilian careers because of their service; (2) are promptly reemployed in their civilian jobs upon their return from duty; and (3) are not discriminated against in employment based on past, present, or future military service. The law is intended to encourage non-career uniformed service thus the United States can enjoy the protection of those services, staffed by qualified people while maintaining a balance with the needs of private and public employers who also depend on these same individuals.
In between her busy days of volunteering, Regenia Grissom paid a very special visit to EOSYS to congratulate us on two very momentous awards. Both of these awards were nominated on behalf of one of our own, Alfredo Aldana. The first award, The Patriot Award, recognizes supervisors and bosses nominated by a Guardsman or Reservist employee for support provided directly to the nominator. The second award acknowledges the employer for honoring and complying with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).

Alfredo nominated and recognized his supervisor of a year, Keith Bertrand, for the Patriot Award. Keith was very honored and humbled to accept this award. EOSYS and ESGR understand and value the unique talents and skill set Guard and Reserve Service members can bring to the civilian workforce.
ESGR has continued to adapt to meet the needs of Reserve Component members, their families, and America’s employers by joining forces with a network of other national, state, and local government and professional organizations such as EOSYS.
